The Sharkettes team is very fortunate to have such a strong coaching staff.  These coaches are committed to promoting the sport of synchronized swimming and assisting individual Sharkettes swimmers to perform their personal best.


Erin O’Brien – Head Coach

Erin began her career in synchronized swimming when she was 7 years old.  She began competing at the competitive club level as a 10-under age group swimmer and continued through the 18-19 age group level. With the Flint Kippettes, she earned medals in duet, trio, and team at U.S. Age Group Nationals and the A.A.U. Junior Olympics. She went on to swim for the University of Michigan, where her team placed 4th at the U.S. Collegiate Championships in 1992. Erin continues to compete at the US Masters level, as a Grand Master, with the Michigan Synchro Masters and has placed in the top three in her age group in figures, solo, duet, trio, and team at the U.S. Masters Championships since 1999.  She is also a Regional figure and routine judge for United States Synchronized Swimming.  Erin was named the 2006 Age Group Developmental Coach of the Year by United States Synchronized Swimming. Erin has been the Synchronized Swimming Tournament Director for the Meijer State Games of Michigan for the past 3 years and she was the Synchronized Swimming Tournament Director for the State Games of America in Grand Rapids in August 2017.


Alice Seipelt - Assistant Coach

Alice swam for Monroe High School and went on to swim for Pennsylvania State University Synchronized Swimming.  For 18 years, Alice was the Head Coach for the Ann Arbor Pioneer High School Varsity Synchronized Swimming Team.  She led her team to numerous MHSAA State Championships!  Alice is also a North Zone Judge and the North Zone Education Chairperson with United States Synchronized Swimming.  We are so fortunate to have Alice as our Assistant Coach!
